Insight into what’s happening ‘down-hole’
Early stage awareness on how to prevent a kick
Insight into common indicators of a kick
Understanding why certain equipment is required on a rig

WHAT DOES THE COURSE COVER?

Barrier management | Risk management | Fundamentals of formation pressure | How well control events occur | Consequences of a well control event | How well control events are detected/avoided | Basic risk calculations | Roles and Responsibilities | Overview of the key equipment | Kill procedures | Scenario based incidents |
KEY POINTS OF THE OGP REPORT RELATING TO THIS COURSE

All members of Wellsite Operations team that directly contributes to the creation, detection or control of a well influx are expected to have completed an accredited (eg IWCF/IADC) well control course at Level 2.

Training should be continuous rather than biennial certification processes. Level 2 should be succeeded by Level 3 by relevant personnel in due course.

WHAT IF THIS COURSE IS NOT COMPLETED

The integrity of the drilling operation may become compromised due to a lack of understanding around basic safety standards. Future tenders may expect this Level of certification of personnel to demonstrate the necessary competence and overall understanding Well Control operations.
