What does the course cover? More Info
1. E-LEARNING INTRODUCTION ‘Understanding Drilling Equipment’ is comprised of eight modules which will lead you step by step through the equipment and techniques in oilfield development. This introduction looks back at traditional methods and forward with a fly through of a new, state-of-the-art rig
2. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT Understanding the basics of safety and environmental aspects in the workplace and being aware of your own responsibilities are essential elements of life in the offshore and onshore drilling environment. Included is an understanding of risk management through the use of specialist software such as Risk-Elimin8, and an introduction to fire detection and protection, lifeboats and liferafts
3. DRILLING EQUIPMENT With the benefits of OEM animation, this module explains the main components of the drilling, mud circulation and hoisting equipment found on a drilling rig, with commentary on inspection techniques and common faults
4. BOP & CONTROL EQUIPMENT A broad understanding of the methods and equipment used to control well flow, encompassing surface and subsea BOP stack components, control systems, choke and kill manifold and MUX control
5. MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT An introduction to some of the more commonly used items of mechanical equipment used within the drilling industry including engines, power generators, winches and wire ropes, along with their main operational and safety requirements
6. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT An understanding of the electrical equipment on a drilling rig including drives and controls, power distribution and hazardous area classification
7. DECK EQUIPMENT A guide to the deck equipment required to handle heavy loads and move equipment around the rig. This module includes cranes, bulk loading stations, anchor winches, jacking systems and dynamic positioning
8. AUDIT An understanding of the rig inspection service requirements and the use of TRAMS software to carry out audits, plan maintenance and update the certification of drilling equipment
