ADC has the ability to adapt existing ADC online training courses and develop bespoke content to help ensure individual client needs are met. Whether it is rebranding an existing course to be aligned with other online training courses within the existing Learning Management System (LMS); or developing a course that integrates company-specific processes and procedures whilst explaining the underlying fundamentals of the subject at hand; ADC can tailor the solution utilising our dedicated graphic design team through collaboration with our technical authors.
This can be taken a step further following the completion of the previously outlined Competency Assessment & Review of each member of the drill crew. Based on the results, ADC will allocate the required units for completion, focused on the areas identified as having an opportunity to improve the individual’s competency related to their job role on board the rig.
All training units will be taken from ADC’s established online courses outlined below, making the necessary references to company-specific policies and procedures if required.
ADC’s internationally recognised qualification in “Understanding Rig Inspection” is based on the Scottish Certification and Qualification Framework (SCQF). After completing the courses and final online exam, the candidate will be able to:
There are a total of 8 modules within the IADC accredited Understanding Drilling Equipment course and each module contains units that are designed to instil the candidate with the knowledge, understanding and confidence around the equipment currently found on board offshore and onshore drilling rigs, MODUs and drill ships. The course includes sections covering Health & Safety, Drilling Equipment, BOP & Well Control Equipment, Electrical Equipment, Mechanical Equipment, Deck Equipment, and Audit Procedures.
The course explains the fundamentals of well control involving calculations and managing a kill operation – ultimately to prevent a kick or blow-out. This is followed by a series of workshops designed through Q&A on Well Control.
The training outlined above will set a baseline standard of understanding of drilling equipment and processes prior to arriving at the rig.
Understanding Dropped Objects course focuses on Successfully Managing Dropped Objects in the Oil and Gas Industry. It gives candidates an understanding and education of Dropped Objects and their consequences, how to assess the risks and apply the hierarchy of control measures required to prevent dropped objects. Several gap analysis have been conducted to ensure that it includes and supports current industry best practices, particularly those depicted within the international DROPS Forum.
The course also gives candidates an awareness of current best practices for securing potential dropped objects and working with tools and equipment at heights, including an overview of an effective Dropped Object Management System and its application.
The Task risk assessment course gives users an understanding of the sources of risk and the procedures used for managing and mitigating risk during work. The course includes the use of risk assessment and risk assessment forms, the roles and responsibilities of the team during a job, steps to be taken during tasks and managing residual risk.
The Working at Height safety awareness course is developed to BS-8454 and covers the requirements for controlling risk and working safely at height. This includes the use and correct implementation of both personal protective equipment and collective fall protection when working at height, methods for accessing areas at height such as ladders, scaffolding and MEWPs, inspection of work at height equipment and rescue and emergency planning for work at height.
The ROV Course gives a basic understanding of the Remotely Operated Vehicle and covers vehicle types, compinents of the vehicle and deployment systems, maintenance facilities and administration, personnel involved, procedures for use, and applicable standards
The Cyber Security course gives users an understanding of the increasing threat to cyber systems in the oil and gas industry, an introduction to network theory, measures, policies and procedures taken to reduce risk and guidelines for cyber security inspection.
